Make a Spaceship Out of Trash

Using Non-literary Text to Structure Narrative and Story

with Dolan Morgan

This class explores how the language of non-literary forms of writing (brochures, ad copy, disclaimers, textbooks, contracts and other legal documents, agendas, etc) can be adopted for fiction or poetry that is not merely silly or clownish, but which also makes room for humanity through personal reflection, processing, and mining of individual memory and experience.

The workshop affords participants an opportunity to read and discuss the work of writers who have adopted similar approaches, to investigate and unpack the possibilities within unconventional writing structures, and to receive feedback on their own interpretation of these ideas.
